Inglewood United 6 Vs. 0 Wanneroo City Inglewood United continued their climb up the Premier League table with a 6-0 whipping of lowly Wanneroo City at Clipsal Stadium. The match began in sunshine and both sides had chances to take an early lead in what was an open and attacking affair. With the game delicately poised, Inglewood took the lead after a smart pass by Bobby Despotovski released Greg Sharland whose inch perfect cross was nodded in by Mladen Kovacevic from 5-metres. Heads in the Wanneroo camp dropped and, not surprisingly, they found themselves another go down after 26 minutes when Despotovski's low curling free-kick from 18-metres found the back of the net. The hosts third goal arrived courtesy of Daniel Niederberger's tenacity in chasing down a long ball and his cross from near the corner flag was flicked on by Sharland to Kevin Griffiths who made no mistake at close-range. Craig Cheeseman was the visitors' only threat and after shimmying past the defence his goalbound strike was brilliantly parried by Oliver Taseski. Kevin Miller was in the thick of the action as half-time approached to deny Sharland and Dean Aplegren. The second half began with a bang for Inglewood as a superb cross from Jason Colli found Sharland who expertly directed his header into the top corner from 8-meres. Two minutes later Niederberger provided the ammunition for Sharland but this time his close-range header cannoned off the crossbar and Miller thwarted Griffiths' at the follow-up. The margin became five goal in the 49th minutes with Griffiths volleying over the 'keeper from 18-metres. Inglewood continued to press and Aplegren was denied by Miller, then Griffiths curled wide what could have been his hat-trick. With three minutes to go Aplegren stormed into the area only for substitute keeper Lee Mackie to block his shot, but this time the loose ball ricocheted off the leg of defender Mark Donnelly and into the net for the game's final goal.
