Cockburn City 6 Vs. 0 Wanneroo City Cockburn City continued their impressive recent form with a 6-0 thrashing of cellar dweller Wanneroo City at Dalmatinac Park. However, the home teams’ second big win in as many weeks was overshadowed by the unsavoury sending off of Wanneroo defender Luke Croxall for striking new team mate Okwy Diamondstar. Cockburn were out of the blocks fast with Johnny Mirco and Giovanni De Bartolo each going close on more than one occasion during the opening exchanges. The breakthrough arrived in the 26th minute when Graham Wells foul on Jason Dos Santos resulted in a Cockburn penalty and from the spot Johnny Mirco made no mistake. Things went from bad to worse for Wanneroo who had Ryan Newhill sent off for a desperate last ditch tackle on De Bartolo in the 35th minute. Josh Kamaz made the most of the hosts’ numerical advantage just before the break by latching onto a long ball and coolly finishing past the goalkeeper. The second half opened with Cockburn determined to pile on the goals and five minutes in Johnny Mirco added the teams’ third following some good work down the right by Jason Dos Santos. It wasn’t long before Johnny Mirco completed his hat-trick by again converting from the spot after the lively De Bartolo was brought down inside the area for a second time. Anthony Pereira, who’d come off the bench at half-time, added to the hosts tally following good work by Jason Dos Santos. Tempers were beginning to were thin in the Wanneroo camp and players from both teams had to be pulled apart after Jason Dos Santos was felled by an over-zealous challenge from Croxall. Aaron Dos Santos completed the scoring in the 82nd minute by sending the ball past Kevin Miller for a sixth time. The crowd were left in disbelief with minutes to go when Croxall struck Diamondstar and gave the referee no option but to issue the games’ second red card.
