Wanneroo City 2 Vs. 4 Western Knights Western Knights recorded a 4-2 victory against Wanneroo City in an entertaining game at Alfred Skeet Oval on Sunday evening. The Knight's dominated the opening exchanges with Jon Higgins' early free kick going inches past the post. Wanneroo goalkeeper Kevin Miller was in superb form, saving brilliantly from Andrija Jukic and moving sharply to keep out a long-range drive by Scott Bushby. The pressure valve was released on 34 minutes as Stuart Montgomery's cut back from the right was met by Jukic, and although Miller produced another stunning save Cormac Dawson was on hand to put away the follow up at close-range. Wanneroo's best chances of the period came moments later as a long-range strike from Craig Wells was tipped over the bar by Ante Ramic. The Knights continued to dominate after the restart and three minutes in doubled their advantage as Jukic fired past Miller from the edge of the 18-yard box. Wanneroo were back in the game on 53 minutes, a long ball caught out the Knights backline and Simon Woodward scored low past Ramic. With this Wanneroo stepped up a gear and it wasn't long before they levelled through Rowdy Yates who finished clinically past Ramic after being sent clear. The Knights re-grouped and were back in front in the 75th minute, Jonathon Mathers spirited the ball to Anthony Skorich whose cross was converted by Montgomery. The game was ended as a contest four minutes later when the Knights made it 4-2 with Montgomery again the scorer from a Bushby cross. Salt was rubbed into Wanneroo's wound with the late dismissal of Peter Vukmirovic for a second yellow card.
