Youth Development Officer's Message:
My name is Matt Emery and I am the new Youth
Development Officer here at Wanneroo City FC. On behalf of all our
coaches and backroom staff I would like to welcome you all to our club
for which promises to be an exciting 2009 season ahead.
To give you all a bit of background on my own experience in football
coming into this role, before moving to Perth in October last year I
worked for 3 years for the national Football Association in England
(The FA) as a Football Development Officer.
In terms of coaching experience I currently hold
the UEFA B Licence in Coaching Football and I have significant
experience of coaching players from 5 years old up to semi professional
adults. I have coached players from many different backgrounds and
cultures, having coached in England, the USA, Israel and Germany. In
addition, I also hold a Bsc degree in Sports Education.
The club has gone through a huge transition over the summer with a
brand new committee being appointed for both the seniors and the
juniors, and a number of new faces at the club. With all of these
changes in mind, a key word for the club this season is development and
there are three key areas which I will be focussing on to ensure our
main objectives for this season are achieved. These key areas are
Education, Player Development and Coach and Volunteer Development.
Players will be given every opportunity to develop as both players and
young people in a fun and safe environment, ultimately creating a
successful player pathway from our U6s all the way up through to our
Senior First Team.
We are very much a community club here at Wanneroo
and every person associated with the club, be it player, parent,
supporter, coach, or committee member, has an equal part to play in the
development of the club and ultimately the success of the club. As I
mentioned at the start of this statement these are very exciting times
here at Wanneroo and with every individual working together as a team I
am passionate in the belief that we can make 2009 a season to remember!
